Diwali Celebration in Good Hope
20 October 2025

On 20 October, the Cultural Ambassadors and Central Board collaborated in hosting a lively celebration of the Diwali festival, a 5-day celebration of lights to commemorate the victory of good over evil. The celebration sought to promote cultural awareness, broaden students’ understanding of the world, and provide a welcoming space for students to reflect on their spirituality.

During lunchtime, students eagerly lined up to sample mouthwatering Indian snacks, like samosas, gulab jamuns, and guyijas. They also enjoyed trying on traditional clothing, including the Saree and Salwar Kameez, and taking photos with Diwali-themed props at the ‘Diwali Diaries’ photo booth.

A highlight of this event was the henna session, when students had intricate henna designs, symbols of prosperity, luck and blessings, applied onto their hands by the aunts of our non-Chinese speaking students. They also served as experts who provided fruitful cultural exchanges for our students, sharing with them all about the history and significance of Diwali.

This celebration has definitely created memories for both students and teachers to cherish and helped promote cultural diversity on campus.
