On 18 March 2025, Cultural Ambassadors hosted Breaking Barriers 2025 to celebrate the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Together with our non-Chinese speaking students, game booths related to traditions of India, the Philippines, Pakistan, Japan, and Scotland were held to deepen students’ understanding of various cultures around the globe.
The event offered students an immersive opportunity to explore and appreciate cultural diversity through interactive booths representing different countries. Participants played traditional childhood games such as Pithoo from India and Menko, a Japanese card game, and tried out iconic karate poses. The Philippines booth introduced schoolmates to the Tagalog language and delicious dried mangoes, while the Scottish and Pakistan booths featured minigames to teach students about their cultural staples, like Nihari, a Pakistani dish, and the Scottish Tartan dresses and bagpipes. Beautiful traditional Indian costumes, saris, kurtas, and lehengas, were also displayed to reflect its rich cultural heritage.
Through these engaging activities, schoolmates were exposed to the customs and traditions of different cultures. Breaking down cultural barriers, the event not only provided a fun and educational experience but also fostered a deeper understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity among our students.
