F1 & F2 : Team-building activities at the Junior Police Permanent Activity Centre

During the two-day experiential learning trip, both form one and two schoolmates had the opportunity to explore the Junior Police Permanent Activity Centre in Pat Heung, where they participated in team-building activities, allowing them to bond while also developing their communication and problem solving skills. Schoolmates were able to discover their own strengths and weaknesses, and were encouraged to utilise them in order to achieve their goals. They also had the chance to learn more about the police force and their roles in our community. One of the highlights of the visit was the zipline activity, schoolmates were harnessed up and flew through the air — both exhilarating and nerve-wracking at the same time. Schoolmates cheered each other on and provided support and encouragement. Without a doubt, this was a wonderful opportunity for schoolmates to step outside of their comfort zones and engage in hands-on learning experiences.

F3: Visits to Sheung Yiu, Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve and the Aberdeen Country Park

In order to strike a balance between classroom learning and other-learning experiences, our school hosted the experiential learning week in early March and provided students with a variety of outdoor-learning opportunities. F.3 classes enhanced their knowledge on ecology and sustainable environment through site visits to Sheung Yiu, Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve and the Aberdeen Country Park.

It was truly a meaningful event as students got to immerse themselves in the natural environment while learning about the world they live in. Besides all that, students were divided into groups to accomplish a variety of tasks and other activities, this was able to greatly contribute to and foster class bonding. There is nothing like gaining first-hand experiences in the course of learning.

F4: Pilgrimage to Yim Tin Tsai and the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception

In the experiential learning week packed with fun activities and outside-the-classroom learning experiences, form 4 schoolmates were blessed with the opportunity to get closer to God through a pilgrimage to Yim Tin Tsai and the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. From unlocking the soul of the remote offshore island to learning about the miracles of God in the magnificent Cathedral, this was truly a journey full of many takeaways.

Schoolmates learnt about the long history of the salt pans of Yim Tin Tsai, the story of Saint Joseph Freinademetz – the first missionary in Hong Kong, and marvelled at the grand Cathedral as they listened to the spellbinding history and teachings of God. Not only was this a more than needed break from the classroom, but also an invaluable bonding experience, and most importantly a spiritual journey.

F5: University Visit

Our Form 5 students visited HK Polytechnic University and the University of Hong Kong during the experiential learning week in early March to gain a better understanding of university subjects and school life. First, students visited HKU Medical School in two groups, learning about nursing and pharmacy programs. After that, students visited the HKU Main Campus to learn about psychology and business.

In the second part of the visit, students visited the Faculty of Humanities, School of Nursing, and School of Optometry at PolyU. University visits provide students with insight into different university subjects and university life through professors and university students sharing their experiences with students. This was definitely a valuable experience for students that helped them prepare themselves for the new chapter of their lives.

Class Bonding: Ocean Park

Chortling under the blazing sun, screaming on roller coaster rides and gushing over adorable animals, doesn’t that sound like a dream gateway? On March 9th and 10th, schoolmates were brought to their dreamlands with a day packed with fun and excitement at Ocean Park.

Given a whole day of enjoyment, both students and teachers got to relax their bodies and minds before the standardised test week. More importantly it was an incredible opportunity for them to form deeper bonds with each other as they enjoyed the exhilarating rides, browsed the souvenir shops, and learned to appreciate the beauty of marine life together.

Ocean Park was without a doubt one of the highlights of the Experiential Learning Week, schoolmates were surely able to get an energy boost from all the time spent with their peers!
